Pretax Giving from your IRA

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) allow IRA owners who are age 70 ½ or older to directly transfer up to $100,000 from their IRA each year to qualified charitable organizations. Your gift can be used toward meeting your annual required minimum distribution (RMD), helping to reduce your taxable income. If married, you and your spouse may each transfer up to $100,000 for a total of $200,000. The key tax benefit of QCDs is that the amount distributed to a charity is excluded from your adjusted gross income. QCDs are allowed even for taxpayers who use standard deduction.

Giving to the church from your estate is a great way to continue influencing the world for Christ after you die. Highground Advisors, the church’s investment advisors, offer free personal estate consulting to church members who would like to include a gift to the church in their will and other estate plans.
