WE HAVE SIX CHILDREN ON THE WAITING LIST FOR A SNAIL MAIL BUDDY!
IT’S NOT TOO LATE FOR YOU TO MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON A CHILD AND ITS FAMILY!
Traditionals – The Snail Mail Buddies Program here at First Baptist Arlington combines the creativity and talents of our Traditional Generation Ministry with our Children’s Ministry. Pen Pal programs have been in existence for many decades, and during this time of pandemic, the same process can become a meaningful partnership in our church as many of our younger and older congregation members learn more about each other through “snail mail” cards and letters. This inter-generational effort will help us connect these two generations and will be another resource for the parents of these children. Larry Link and David Butts have collaborated in putting this together. The great news is that you can still register to be a part of this. (A background check will be run on all adult volunteers as a part of our church policy for everyone over the age of 18 who volunteers to work with anyone under 18 years of age.)
Traditionals – if this is something you think you might be interested in – GREAT! The first step is to get a background check started for you – email Marla Johnson and please give her the following information:
- Your Full Name
- Email Address
- Mailing Address
- The Best Phone Number to Reach You
Marla will send you an email link to get you on your way. After you are paired with a child, you will receive a letter with additional information and suggestions (a couple of those suggestions are to print your letters or type them and to ask questions to your Snail Mail Buddy). Don’t feel that you have to write a weekly letter to your child – once you start, you may realize that once a month is plenty – it’s up to you.
