Today’s Scripture: Isaiah 46
By: Dr. Dennis Wiles
As we begin this Easter journey, we are focusing on the uniqueness of our God. That is exactly the point God makes in Isaiah 46. In this text, God contrasts Himself with all of the pagan gods of the Babylonians. He reminds Israel that the pagan people have to carry their gods along. He then challenges them to remember that, unlike these false gods, God CARRIES His people (see Isaiah 46:3-4)!
Indeed, God is never carried by His people. We don’t bear Him like a burden. No, in fact, he carries us. He lifts us up. He bears our burdens. He strengthens us. He provides us with enabling strength to face the challenges of our lives.
So, what burdens are you carrying today? What are the challenges you are facing? What is weighing you down today? Let me remind you—you serve a God who loves you. He will never be slowed down by the weight of your problems. He is capable of carrying you through the valleys of your life.
In the New Testament, the Apostle Peter invites us to cast our anxieties on the Lord because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). God is able to handle your challenges and difficulties. You will never find a time where you have to carry Him. He stands ready to lift you up. He is ready to walk with you through your storm. Let Him lift you up today!
