Treasure. We're not talking about a pirate's chest or lost gold...but the financial resources each of us has.
Today's economy is definitely tough, right now, and talk of sharing our money can seem difficult. The truth is, though, most of us still have resources we can share.
The work of God often requires money. Everyday expenses at the local church are a lot like your personal expenses: electricity bills, water bills, mortagage payments, insurance. And then there are expenses with God's work that are unique: airline tickets to remote places in the world, supplies and equipment for Bible study each week, scholarship money for retreats and conferences, money to help run churches in remote areas of the world, salaries for church employees.
Your gifts from your treasures is what makes all of this happen. God asks us to give a tithe - 10% - of our money to help His work continue. What about you? Are you giving faithfully of the treasure God's given you? |
