You’ve heard this one, right? “A person is known by the company he keeps.”You’re thinking it’s from Proverbs, but this ancient saying is actually credited to the Greek story-spinner Aesop who lived 2,500 years ago. It sounds like the perfect quote for a discussion about the pros and cons of social media. But not today.
You see, there’s another way to apply Aesop’s formula for analysis: To really “know” First Baptist Church Arlington, you have to know a little more about the company we keep. And this is where it gets interesting.
The “company we keep” – which we call our Affiliate and FBCA-directed Engagements – spreads across a broad spectrum that literally touches every part of this planet. That might be a bit hard to wrap your head around, so that’s what this Did You Know? series is all about.
Did You Know? Part of every dollar given to the World Mission Offering and the FBCA Budget gets divided then directed toward dozens of ministries that do a world of good – all around the world! In total, FBCA directs over 17% of our receipts ($1,178,508) to our affiliate ministries and specific FBCA-directed ministries that are engaged in missional work.
Through our engagements, we give financially to an organization or ministry because we believe it’s doing God’s work right where it’s at and we want to encourage and support that work. We participate in the administration or management of some of the organizations and ministries, while others are more cooperative in nature. Think of our engagements as a commitment that declares:

so we can do more together
than we could do individually.
For every dollar given to Engagements, it breaks down like this:
